Kei / Satoru (サトル)

1. OVERVIEW & DESIGN

Kei, known as Satoru in the original Japanese version, is one of the two main protagonists of Ape Escape 3. He is the younger twin brother of Yumi and can be selected as the player's character at the beginning of the game.

Kei is introduced as an energetic fourth-grade student who enjoys baseball and physical activities. He lives with Yumi and their aunt Aki and becomes involved in the fight against Specter's latest plan when most of humanity is affected by Specter TV.

Like the previous protagonists Spike and Jimmy, Kei is tasked with capturing Pipo Monkeys. However, his personality and abilities give him a different identity from the heroes who came before him.

2. APPEARANCE

Kei has a youthful and energetic appearance that matches his athletic personality. His most recognizable outfit is his baseball uniform, which he wears throughout much of his adventure.

3. PERSONALITY

Kei is brave, energetic and extremely confident in his own abilities. He can also be overconfident and tends to approach dangerous situations without showing much fear.

Compared with the previous protagonists, Kei has a more hotheaded personality. He often acts quickly and is eager to prove himself, particularly when faced with a difficult challenge.

Despite his overconfidence, Kei is not selfish. He cares about Yumi, Aki and the people affected by Specter's plan, and he willingly takes on the responsibility of helping save the world.

4. BEGINNING OF HIS ADVENTURE

Kei's adventure begins when he and Yumi return home and receive a call from Natalie. She explains that the Pipo Monkeys are causing trouble again and have begun broadcasting strange television programs around the world.

The broadcasts are designed to turn people into mindless viewers. Kei, Yumi, Aki and Natalie are among the few people who remain unaffected.

Natalie also informs them that Spike, Jimmy and the Professor have been affected by the broadcasts. Kei and Yumi are therefore asked to capture the monkeys and stop Specter's television operation.

Kei receives a Monkey Net and begins traveling through the different movie sets and locations controlled by Specter's forces.

5. THE FREAKY MONKEY FIVE

The Freaky Monkey Five are a group of powerful monkeys who protect Specter's television stations. Kei and Yumi must confront them while traveling through the different areas of the game.

The Freaky Monkey Five protect the television stations and help Specter spread his broadcasts. Kei and Yumi must capture the monkeys and shut down the satellites connected to the broadcasts.

6. MORPH GEAR

Aki creates the Morph Gear for Kei and Yumi. This device allows the twins to transform into specialized forms with different abilities.

7. KEI AND YUMI

Kei and Yumi are twin siblings and the two playable protagonists of Ape Escape 3.

Yumi is Kei's older twin sister. Their personalities contrast with one another, with Kei being more overconfident and energetic while Yumi is generally more focused and confident in her own way.

Players choose between Kei and Yumi at the beginning of the game. The choice does not change the main story, although certain monkeys react differently depending on which character the player chooses.

8. AKI AND NATALIE

Aki is Kei and Yumi's aunt and acts as their main guide during the adventure. She provides the twins with new equipment and develops the Morph Gear used by both characters.

Natalie also assists Kei and Yumi during their mission. She informs them about Specter's broadcasts and helps coordinate their efforts to stop the monkeys.

Aki and Natalie are important members of the group that remains unaffected by Specter TV and helps Kei and Yumi throughout their mission.

9. DR. TOMOKI

Dr. Tomoki is a human scientist who works with Specter at the beginning of Ape Escape 3. Together, they establish the television stations used to broadcast Specter TV.

Kei and Yumi eventually reach Tomoki City and confront Dr. Tomoki in his giant Tomo-King robot.

After being defeated and subsequently betrayed by Specter, Tomoki realizes that Specter has no intention of respecting their partnership. Kei and Yumi defend Tomoki rather than abandoning him, leading him to help the heroes during the final part of their mission.

10. SPECTER TV

Specter's main plan in Ape Escape 3 is to use television broadcasts to make humans around the world lose themselves in mindless entertainment.

The broadcasts affect almost everyone, including Spike, Jimmy and the Professor. Kei, Yumi, Aki and Natalie are among those who remain unaffected.

Kei and Yumi therefore become the main people capable of traveling to the different television sets, capturing the monkeys and destroying the satellites that keep the broadcasts running.
